Merhaba, Ben Etem Çolak.

Yaklaşık 20 yıldır görsel anlatım ve yapı sanatı üzerine çalışıyorum. Kimileri beni vizörün arkasındaki belgesel fotoğrafçısı, kimileri ise şantiyedeki müteahhit kimliğimle tanır. Oysa benim için bu iki dünya birbirinden ayrı değildir; ikisi de “mekânı ve yaşamı kurgulama” sanatıdır.

Köklerden Geleceğe Hikâyem, mahallemdeki bir fotoğraf stüdyosunda, hayatı gözlemleyerek başladı. Karanlık odada filmlerin banyo edilmesini izlerken, sabrı ve detayı öğrendim. O günlerde başlayan ışık tutkum, zamanla dijital sanatın ve teknolojinin imkânlarıyla (Drone, NFT) genişleyen bir vizyona dönüştü.

“Sanatçı Müteahhit” Vizyonu Profesyonel iş hayatımda, inşaat ve kentsel dönüşüm projeleri yürütüyorum. Ancak bir projeye başlarken sadece statik hesapları değil; ışığın o odaya nasıl düşeceğini, bir pencerenin hangi manzarayı çerçeveleyeceğini de hesaplıyorum. Fotoğrafçılık bana “görmeyi”, müteahhitlik ise “gördüğümü inşa etmeyi” öğretti.

Felsefem Üretimlerimde; boşluk, sessizlik ve geometrik sadelik ön plandadır. İster bir fotoğraf karesi olsun, ister inşa ettiğim bir yaşam alanı; amacım gürültü yaratmak değil, kalıcı ve estetik bir iz bırakmaktır.

Bugün, ulusal ve uluslararası platformlarda eserleri sergilenen bir sanatçı ve İstanbul’un dönüşümüne katkı sunan bir yapı profesyoneli olarak üretmeye devam ediyorum.

Bu site, sadece bir portfolyo değil; betonun estetikle, ışığın mekanla buluştuğu yolculuğumun kaydıdır.

Hello, I am Etem Çolak.

I have been working on visual storytelling and the art of building for nearly 20 years. Some know me as the documentary photographer behind the viewfinder, while others know me as the contractor on the construction site. To me, however, these two worlds are not separate; both represent the art of “crafting space and life.”

From Roots to the Future My story began in a neighborhood photography studio, observing life through a lens. Watching films develop in the darkroom, I learned the value of patience and detail. The passion for light that started in those days has evolved over time into a vision expanded by digital art and modern technology, including Drone photography and NFTs.

The “Artist Builder” Vision In my professional life, I manage construction and urban transformation projects. However, when initiating a project, I calculate not only the structural engineering but also how the light will fall into a room and exactly which landscape a window will frame. Photography taught me “how to see,” and contracting taught me “how to build what I see.”

My Philosophy In my work, themes of emptiness, silence, and geometric simplicity are paramount. Whether it is a photograph I capture or a living space I construct, my aim is never to create noise, but to leave a lasting, aesthetic mark.

Today, I continue to create as an artist whose works are exhibited on national and international platforms, and as a construction professional contributing to the transformation of Istanbul.

This site is not just a portfolio; it is a record of my journey where concrete meets aesthetics, and light meets space.
